June Tan Sooi Ee
June Tan was born in Penang into a musical family. She started singing at the age of 4 when she mimicked country songs on the radio. She began classical piano lessons when she was 8 and started performing gigs while still in schooI. After finishing school, she studied in Singapore and obtained the Teaching Certificate awarded by the Yamaha Music Foundation. After pursuing a career in law she has gone back full time to her first love - music. Ms Tan's repertoire has evolved to include jazz, which she has developed over the years and in which she received training in the United States Her teachers include Matt Harris, Frank Collette and Dave Packer. Besides performing, she also coaches budding musicians in contemporary music. She has had numerous engagements in the region, both as a solo performer and as member of duos and trios, including being the featured entertainment at the ASEAN ISV Summit in Chiang Mai.ThaiIand. Currently, she performs solo as the pianist·voca|ist at the @mosphere Revolving Restaurant & Lounge in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.
Hanafie Mohd Imam
Born in Kuala Lumpur, Hanafie Mohd Imam graduated from Berklee College of Music (Boston) in Jazz Composition and Arranging, and the University of Miami in Music Education and Performance.
He has performed for and with international jazz artists such as Wynton Marsalis, Branford Marsalis, Mike and Pat Metheny; The Benny Golson All Star Band, Bee Gees, Matt Monroe, Dionne Warwick, and many others. Prof. Hanafie has played as a member of jazz ensembles as well as double bass in symphony orchestras. He is also an expert and educator on Malaysian music. His diverse musical accomplishments include composing. arranging and performing theatre works; conducting symphony orchestras; studying film music and scoring; and performing in Broadway musica|s. He is currently Professor of Music with the School of Arts at Universiti Malaysia Sabah.
